AVID District Director
My name is Kelly Wilson, and I happily serve as Martinsville City Schools AVID District Director and Assistant Principal of Albert Harris Elementary School. As the AVID District Director, it is my job to support each of the schools in the district and their coordinators with the implementation of AVID and its fidelity. In doing so, I provide professional development opportunities to faculty and staff throughout the district in areas needed and/or desired. AVID District Directors create open lines of communication among the schools and the AVID Center, and help to analyze data sent to the AVID Center. Directors are there to support the schools in any way they can; setting up professional development at AVID Summer Institutes, hiring tutors, helping set up family workshops, and develop public communications about AVID. In conclusion, I am also pleased to express how AVID has continued to expand throughout Martinsville City schools the past four years in student interest, as well as increased implementation of AVID research-based strategies in teacher instruction and lesson planning. Additionally, AVID strategies assist with student success as Martinsville City continuously prepares students for college and career readiness. If you have any questions with regards to AVID, please do not hesitate to contact me.
