Welcome to Martinsville City Public Schools:
Welcome back as we begin the 2019-2020 school year. Our school division accomplished many great things this past year. We won many awards in our technology areas, athletic arena, and academic activities. I am very proud and excited about the tremendous work ethic that our staff has displayed even during the summer vacation months. It is time for our school division to move forward and to prepare our students for an ever-changing world. I am elated about our partnership in providing them with the best education available in our nation. I am looking forward to working with you and to being very visible in our schools again this year while providing resources that we need to move our division forward. Although we will miss those teachers and staff members who have retired, I know that our new staff will pick up the instructional mantle and move forward.
Martinsville City Public Schools are designed to help all students obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to be “college, career, and citizenship ready” upon high school graduation. The programs and services we provide are carefully designed and implemented by staff to meet the ever-changing needs of our students. Our goals are: to ensure student achievement and continuous growth for all students, to promote a safe and secure learning environment, to achieve and maintain a high level of communication with the staff and community, and to recruit, hire, retain, and support a high quality teaching staff.
Our community has been very supportive and we want to again reach out to them as we strive towards quality educational programs for all students. Thank you for not accepting excuses this past year and for conquering barriers with strategic practices and hard work! We will move forward to deeper learning this year and will reap great benefits for our students and families. Thank you for supporting me in my first year as superintendent of our division. Our schools experienced great things because of your support and I believe that better improvements are on the horizon. We must create and maintain an atmosphere where all students have an opportunity to achieve success. I am honored to be a part of our Martinsville City Public Schools Team.
Best wishes for the year ahead,
Dr. Zebedee Talley Jr.
