Endowment

The MCPS Endowment began in 2007 as a component fund of the Martinsville Area Community Foundation. There have been 198 grants awarded to date, totaling $174,752 in funding and benefitting students at every city school.

These creative instructional grants are for innovative learning activities that would not otherwise be possible in a school’s budget. Just think of some of the cool, hands-on projects teachers could do to bring lessons alive for their students with the funds from this endowment!

Past grant projects include:

  • School gardens at Patrick Henry and Albert Harris Elementary Schools

  • A parent-child health workshop at Clearview Early Learning Center

  • Stream testing with the Virginia Museum of Natural History for middle school science classes

  • Shark dissection at Martinsville High School

  • Book vending machines at Patrick Henry Elementary School
